The Northam All Suite and Bali Hai, Penang- Part 2

After makan-makan, our next destination is our love nest :3. The Northam All Suite. The rate was actually quite affordable (imagine with our very own Jacuzzi, his and her basins, a living hall, study hall and dining area). Without breakfast is RM230 (including tax) for one night.

Body shop scrubs and shower gel that I brought along to pamper my dear.

For dinner, we dislike the idea of going to Gurney drive as most of the food were very touristy. So our dinner was in …..

Kailan with oyster sauce (RM15-small) and Fried squids (RM15)

I love the Kai lan dish while i think the fried squids was ok only. Fish, we requested to cook in Thai style, lots of ginger, chili padi and garlic.

Fish RM140 (RM25/100gm).. T T

I was shocked went the bill came, a total of RM 205.20 for 2 person. Luckily, the fish was good, not over cooked and nicely prepared or else I will feel so guilty (exceed dear’s budget).  Bali Hai website (click here)

Dear’s look when paying bill. Hahaha. No-la. It is true self. Sweaty fella.

For supper (yes. supper), we went to Chulia street with the intention to try its infamous curry mee and my favorite apom, of course. Too bad, it was raining cats and dogs, and what amused us the most was that the queue for curry mee for take away was still so long. Unbelievable. They must be thinking “ Tak boleh makan sana tak apa, ta pau!”. We were actually one of them but didn’t manage to place any order as the young man working there seems a bit unhappy. Nvm-la then.  We went to another wantan mee stall. Hehe. RM5 for 2 plates (sorry, no pic).

Ah Leng famous CKT, we ordered special CKT (with mantis prawn, duck egg and 5 big prawns) RM9.50

I really enjoyed the CKT very much. With additional mantis prawn, it blended very well with the noodles and the prawns were perfect! Juicy, bouncy and just delicious. Will be back next time *Drools*

P/s: My dear, thank you for the wonderful weekend and good food!

Botanical Garden & Wong Chau Jun (Fish head noodles) Penang- Part 1

It all started from a simple daily conversation with my dear.

Dear: My dear, I feel like eating penang food-la.

Me: Let’s go then!

I was in charged for selecting the comfortable accommodation while my dear’s duty is to scout for delicious penang delicacies. The journey began at 8am from Klang after we had dim sum as breakfast. I really pity my dear cause he had to do all the driving while I’m busy snoring beside him. Hehe. Our first stop was Penang Botanical Garden. It has been over 10 years since i last stepped my foot on it.

Yes! We were attacked by the monkey after my dear shouted “KAKA” at them. I ran like a mad woman as if like my RM1 million toto ticket got blown away by wind.

Mini-penang bridge and dear’s suicide attempt (Hopefully the tree branch is ok)

After a few hours under the hot sun, we are hungry and thirsty! We want food! We want food! Ok.Here come all the bad news. That day happened to be the 9th day of Nine Imperial Gods festival which means most of the stalls were closed including infamous Ah Leng CKT and the sisters CKT. We head to alternative restaurant, Wong Chau Jun Fish Head Noodle. (This restaurant was interviewed by newspapers as well as the famous 8TV food discovery program Ho Chak! - wikistreetfood) Don’t play play!

Wong Chau Jun homemade Taufu (RM8) and Prawn salad (RM13)

The taufu is seriously delicious in terms of its texture and dried shrimp sauce. Prawn salad was kinda of addictive too.

Wong Chau Jun Spicy Fish head noodles (RM12 for 2 pax).

I’m a fish meat lover while my dear is a fish head lover. The staff say it is ok to mix as long as the minimum order is for 2 person. The soup is filled with lemongrass aroma (a bit too much this time-its actually our second time dining in) and chili padi. You can imagine how good it is especially after a sudden downpour.

Favola – 2nd Anniversary Dinner

Special message for my sweetheart: “Its been 730 days we spend our lives together as one ♥. Though the journey was rough in certain times, im glad its you that i share my journey with. Thank you so much dear for the memorable dinner and i will love you till the day we both part from this world”.

As usual, he is always reluctant to tell me where we are going to dine until the very last minute. But this time, I’m smarter. I managed to dig some information by asking “What should i wear?”, “where is it? Is it formal?” but still half-failed, half-succeed.

Location revealed! Favola – Le Meridien Hotel. Awww… this is what you will see imprinted on the lift’s door. Favola means fable in Italian and the experience begins as the diner walks through the open galleries into a rustic Italian setting reminiscent of the renaissance era. Very true indeed.

The ambience

IMG_5168IMG_5120 IMG_5155

The aroma of freshly baked complimentary bread and the texture was superb! (Served with 3 dipping sauces)

IMG_5109 IMG_5112

(As I’m writing this, my stomach is growling like mad…T T) How can you not have scallops served on cauliflower as risotto topped with truffle as appertizer? How can??? The scallops were cook to perfection and cauliflower sauce did a great job in enhancing the sweetness of the scallops. We almost "lick” the whole plate squeaky clean until the waitress came and took it away *sniff*

IMG_5114I ordered Conchigliani Marinara al Cortoccio (baked in parcels with seafood in tangy tomato sauce, extra virgin olive oil, fresh herbs and Parmesan cheese) for my main course. Shelly-pasta! Another wonderful dish. Well-done chef!

IMG_5130

Honestly, I forgotten what my dear ordered but if i’m not mistaken, that would be Lamb xxxxxx. (forgive me T T). Do not underestimate the side dishes, the mash potatoes was buttery creamy while the mushroom salad was..uhm…delicious! The lamb, did i need to mention? Very well executed of course.

IMG_5137 IMG_5142

It’s desserts time!!! We ordered Panna Cotta (almond custard cream, minestrone of fruit, sugar veil and orange wafer) and Cassata (“This recipe was given to me by a friend, an Italian chef. He made me swear on a stack of ice cream that I would never reveal his recipe.”) . *Two thumbs up*

IMG_5162 IMG_5163

This is a dining place that worth coming back for. Really looking forward in tasting other surprises in the menu…*grin*. Ciao~

IR 1968

Every month, my dear would like to surprise and pamper me with fancy dinner. What to do? The both of us so "tham chiak". I heard so much bout this restaurant called IR 1968 and of course, many bloggers had blog about its famous ox tongue. This time for a change, it's my turn to surprise him. Hehe. I managed to buy coupon for a 7 course meal which worth RM333 for only RM150 (Everyday coupon

Upon entering Terrace Hock Choon, there is a stairway on your right will lead you to heaven. The interior was classy with hints of authentic Chinese's feel.

I love the plate's design ( i feel like i'm from don't know which jungle) and not to mention
the warm service.

Here comes the 7-course meal (minus 1 for beverages)
For starter, we were served spring roll, wantan with tom yum sauce and shrimp corn fritter. *Heart* the wan tan...slurp!

Double boiled superior chicken soup with shark fin (Sorry WWF) :3
And I personally do feel that the soup is at the saltier side and leave the salty after-taste.Hmm…
IMG_5935 IMG_5938

After the soup, i felt a bit full as i “curi makan” Mcdonald fries and a few pieces of nuggets during the journey here. Scared got jam ma~
The 3 course is crispy peanut chicken with home made plum sauce. For me, prefer the chicken without plum sauce and vice versa for my dear.

Sea bass with lemongrass spicy sauce
IMG_5978

Indonesian fried rice with two variety Hong Kong Kailan and lastly fruit platter. We are done!

We can hardly walk after 6 course meals. If my financial status allows,I will definitely be back to try IL Divo which also located in the same terrace. *Pray pray*
