Four days back, my dear called me to deliver the good news that he received bonus from his new company. As usual, the sweet him would love to celebrate the happy occasion, dining in new places. Of course i was immediately smitten by the invitation. Location was not revealed (again) until the very night itself.
Leonardo’s takes its name from Leonardo da Vinci, the famous painter of the Mona Lisa, and the quintessential Renaissance Man, who was, in addition to being a painter, also an inventor, engineer, architect, anatomist, mathematician, scientist, and writer – The Leonardo’s Team.
This wonderful place was situated in Bangsar after passing by a quite residential area. Below Leonardo’s was a bakery shop. It easy to find parking even at during the peak hour.
The stairway leading to the restaurant. My dear made reservation for 8pm. We arrived on time, however a staff has misplaced our reservation and asked us to proceed to 2nd floor. (no worries, they served the same food and the only difference was the ambience). Actually, we were very glad that we moved upstairs as the 1st floor was pack with groups of diners….a little bit noisy i would say.
Cozy and romantic ambience..
Many designs of seating to suit individual’s preference…..
Spanish piquillo peppers (RM25) stuffed with black truffle fragranced pork mince served with salsa verde dressing and lashings of creamy sauce. Oh heaven. Seriously, don’t know how to describe how good this dish was. Every part compliments each other so well, and the combination of pepper, pork and cream was just so delicious! Me and my dear’s favorite dish. Will definitely be back for more..
Thai styled spaghetti vongole with fresh clams, chilli, lemon grass and ginger flower (RM30). The spaghetti was nicely done. However, i do feel that the clams were overcooked and not so fresh. I did accidentally bite a small piece of stone from one of the clams.
Spanish Black Pig Shoulder Loin Steak (RM57)- (served medium done) with truffle oil mashed potatoes and vegetables. Love the texture of the pork. Blend very well with the sauce too.
Mamma Mia (RM35)- (jamon serrano, mozzarella, rocket)
Leonardo’s Pizzas Made to the “golden ratio” of approximately 1.618, first discovered by the greeks. Leonardo da Vinci proportioned his works to approximate the golden ratio, believing it to be aesthetically pleasing- source (Leonardo’s Menu).
Seriously, this was the best RM35 spent. It was the highlight of the dinner (of course don’t forget the pepper dish-lah). The crust was more like a thin piece of Lebanese bread coated with generous amount of cheese. I folded the pizza into half for easy entry into my mouth. Hehe but ladies, please hold the pizza at least 80 degree as the balsamic vinegar sauce will drip like hell. But it’s so worth it!!!!!
Banana Bread and Butter Pudding (RM23)served with vanilla sauce and a scoop of Haagen Dazs vanilla ice cream. Hmm….not memorable. don’t really like the texture and we think was quite ordinary. Can skip this…
Chocolate Volcano (RM23) served with a scoop of Haagen Dazs vanilla ice cream. Oh, what a perfect way to end a dinner. I don’t know why but no matter how full, women always have space for desserts. Hehe… Please take note that this “piece of heaven” required at least 30-40 minutes of preparation time. Freshly baked from oven. Another winner! The outer layer was chewy while the chocolate lava was piping hot, oozing out and blended wonderfully well with vanilla ice-cream. It’s a must to order..we heart this dessert so much =3
For smokers, 2nd floor do allow smoking. My dear, thank you so much for bringing me to this wonderful place. It’s in my list already.. I love you honey baba!
