1st Wedding Anniversary Trip. Ye Olde Smokehouse, Fraser's Hill

DPP_0533

Yes, you guess it right. It’s Fraser’s hill (duh, so obvious the title). Well, for our first anniversary (30.12.2013), as usual, I wanted to surprise my hubby with a memorable trip. I booked the room in advance but in the end, it wasn't a secret cause I need him to drive us there. Sigh..stupid.

The reservation method for Ye Olde Smokehouse Fraser’s Hill is kind of disappointing. First of all, they do not have online booking. You need to call them, they will send you the booking form, fill in your details, Photostat your credit card and email back to them. It was kind of tedious. The ride up here was quite scary for me as the road was quite narrow.

The bed was very high. Upon entering the room, I felt really good. Pretty little cottage decoration but once I stepped on the carpet, it was a whole different story. I’m sorry to say that the room, carpet and the furniture were kind of dirty and sticky. So was the floor and the vanity table.

Browsing the menu. Thinking what to eat cause the waiter told us that they need at least 30 minutes to prepare the food as they cooked from scratch. The smokehouse system was weird too. When we wanted to dine in for lunch, of course in general you would walk to the restaurant to be seated. Instead, the waiter ask us to ask the reception to ask whether there is any table available. Ok, maybe I'm too sensitive.

Ok. The last complain that I have is that after lunch, we wanted to try out their signature scones but only will be serve at 3pm. SO the lady manager mentioned that we can order and they will send it to our room. Yeah! She mentally took down the order and we requested the scones to be deliver to us around 3.30pm. 4pm passed, nothing happened. 4.30pm my hubby went down to check on the order. The lady manager just told my hubby to order himself at the restaurant. WHAT THE……. then why bother to agree just now!!! 10 minutes later, the scones arrived.

For dinner, we decided to head out. The food was expensive and the service…just too “brilliant”. We ate in Malay restaurant somewhere near the clock tower. Breakfast was included.

And YES, they took more than 30 minutes to serve the breakfast. If it was steak or other main course, I would definitely understand but eggs and mushroom?????? seriously?!?!? No head count preparation in advance???

Will I be back to The Smokehouse Fraser’s Hill? My answer is NO if they maintain the same service or no refurbishment (the place is rundown and the rooms have very thin walls). I paid RM450 + RM45 tax just for the room. Maybe my expectation was too high after reading all the good reviews on trip advisor or maybe it just wasn't my day. Well, you can always check it out. Good luck!

Our Wedding Day & R.O.M on 30.12.12 @Home Sweet Home

23

Getting married in Malaysia is actually quite economical, true story. All you need is to register your marriage for RM30 in government registration office. But of course, who willing to do JUST THAT? Wedding is once a life time event but don't overspend also la or worst of all, take loan for your wedding (together forever- paying loan!).
After a few brainstorming with parents and hubby, we finally decided to have the Registration of Marriage and the Chinese ceremony on the same day. Most of the Chinese are very particular on the timing (time the groom must arrive, time for the bride to leave the house and what time should arrive at the groom’s house). Well for us, we only chose the lucky date 30.12.12 but not particular on the time.

Thank you my dear for giving me such a beautiful wedding. The road ahead may not be easy but I'm glad it's you I'm sharing this journey with. I love you and only you. Till death do us apart

My hubby also managed to convince the JPN officer to attend and witness our signing ceremony. It wasn't an easy tasks. So tedious and need to go a few round to JPN office in Shah Alam (got rejected the first time and my hubby secretly went there again to reapply), PKNS (for some signature and chop) and submit back to JPN office, waited for available officer for confirmation… One word: Mess! But it is definitely worth it..

OK...I better go straight to the point. My make up artist arrived at 7.30am (she told me 8am), luckily I already showered and dried my hair. My videographer was late cause they have to meet at my husband’s place in Subang Jaya, I'm from Klang. So the below picture is my dress from PRECIOUS SS2. They got my size. Thank God and its under VVIP dress without any extra charges…Yeahhh! I loved this dress so much (We only paid RM2000 for the photography service..read more here).

Its a Chinese tradition for parents to cover the daughters’ veil

Before the groom and gan arrive to the bride house, they must horn very very LOUDLY from a distance to let everyone knows that they are coming. I freaked out at this moment and quickly went back to my room and locked the door. LOL. This is the part that he must fight for me.

For walking down the pathway, we chose “Canon D Major” violin version. So beautiful. After praying to my ancestors and my late grandma, the sudden emotion just washed all over me. The thought of not being so near to my family, the thought that my late grandma could not witness my wedding and not able to be there for them brought me to tears. That’s the part I lost control and broke down. Cry baby

Tea Ceremony is an official ritual to introduce the newlyweds to each other's family, and it's a way for newlyweds to show respect and appreciation to their parents. The newlyweds will be serving tea to both side of parents, as well as elder close relatives. Parents give their words of blessing and gifts to the newlyweds. During tea presentation, a "Good Luck Woman" would say auspicious phrases to bless the newlyweds and the parents. These auspicious words of blessing are designed to bless and amuse the family and make the occasion filled with fun and joy. (Source: Wikipedia)
