Taiwan 2010 – Day 2 @ Yehliu Geopark and Jiufen

Hahaha…very very sorry for the delay. Ok. Let’s continue the tour. For day 2, our itinerary was Yehliu (Rocky place), 101 mall and Jiufen (Oh..heaven) . Please, please, please wear shoes instead of sandals when in Yehliu. I wore sandals and the end results of rains + mud + sandals = you know la…

The Entrance of Yehliu. Our entry tickets were taken care by tour guide.

Ok. Ok. I admit. This picture was indeed heavily edited.

The queue for taking picture with this “Queen Head” was too long. Nope, we did not cut queue. It’s just that we took it from the angle of queen’s backside.

Some old folks said “If you did not see any monk in Thailand means you actually never been to Thailand”. –_-" So this same theory applies to Taiwan but with a sexier twist. If you never see betel nuts’ girls means your Taiwan trip is never official. *Drum rolls * I present to you, Ms Betel nut! She was brave. Our bus were packed with families and i salute her bravery.

IMG_0431

Lap-dancing to single and available men. Btw, a packet of betel nuts cost NT$100 (RM10). Can la for a lap dance.

IMG_0425

The taste…well....hmm…just like eating some leaves with your teacher’s white chalk. Bad~~~~~~~~~~~ IMG_7166

Jiufen is a MUST place to visit. The food was just amazingly delicious, lots of variety, affordable . ARGH! Just go and you will definitely LOVE it!

IMG_7185

Piping hot and delicious shrimp balls for only NT$50 (RM5). Just at the main entrance

IMG_7187

Oh…too smelly until irresistible. Smelly toufu.

IMG_7189

Sorry folks. I’m a banana and reading mandarin is a big no no to me. That’s why, taking picture of the menu list will act as a guidance for all of you

IMG_7202

Cow’s stomach and other internal parts. Most of the dishes were served cold except for the rice and noodle.

IMG_7199

“Ngau Lam Min”

IMG_0444

Ok. Here is another food that you must try in Taiwan. I know, it sounds weird but it actually taste quite good. Unless for coriander haters, please exclude them.

IMG_7203

The ice-cream was wrapped with moist spring roll skins, sprinkled with generous amount of grated peanuts and handful of coriander.

IMG_7204

IMG_7206

Wild boar sausages…

IMG_7208

IMG_7209

I had a few regrets upon returning to Malaysia. One of them was I SHOULD HAVE BOUGHT MORE OF THESE PEANUTS. It was so DAMN good that it only took my family less than 4 days to finish all of them (3 boxes). The big roasted peanuts were well coated with caramelized honey. Trust me. Its not too sweet. The aroma was so great that you’ll keep eating non-stop.

IMG_7213

Snaily snails..It was nice too

IMG_7219

IMG_7218

Ohh…miss this BBQed mushrooms with teriyaki sauce. Delicious!

IMG_7220

IMG_7221

Dorayaki stuffed with ice-cream

IMG_7225

IMG_7229

IMG_7231

Milk bottle drinks. I order honey lemon and surprisingly, it was yummy. The sourness and sweetness were well balanced. Buying it with new bottle cost NT$50 (RM5), however, if you bring back the bottle back to refill for second round, it cost NT$30 (RM3).

IMG_7232

IMG_7251

Taro and sweet potato ball. My family and I been to Taiwan twice and without fail, we returned for this at the same place, same restaurant. The memories that i will cherished.

IMG_7234

So childish!

IMG_7250

The view….

IMG_7243

IMG_7244

After makan-makan, we had a pit stop at 101 mall for some pictures to prove that we had been to Taiwan. So kiasu!

IMG_7299-1

 IMG_0463

Then proceed to dinner…eat again~~~~~ Steamboat for cool weather with slices of thin pork and beef. Oyea~

IMG_0496

IMG_0489

IMG_0511

We settled down in Champion hotel, not bad; clean and spacious.

IMG_7364

There was a night market nearby the hotel. They have the Best corndog. I ordered cheese corndog coated with honey mustard. My saliva is drooling as I am writing this right now T__T

IMG_7373

Oh ya..almost forgot. Another famous delicacies in Taiwan is “Big sausage wrap small sausage”. This big sausage is actually consist of glutinous rice (in a form of sausage), slit open like a hot dog bun and then a small meat sausage will be place in between. This stall has the best one that we tasted so far.

Very generous with garlic sausage when bbq-ing. Too bad it was raining and didn’t manage to take a photo of the end products. Hehe. Dead in my stomach.

Suddenly, it rained very heavily thus, we called it a night! Hopefully part 3 will surface soon. Good night! Sweet dreams~~

Taiwan 2010 – Day 1 @ Shangrila Leisure Farm, YiLan

Deepavali is always a nightmare for me and my family for the past 5 years as we lived in Indian Street.  Really bad traffic and jam like mad just to get back home even in the middle of the night. Thank god this year, my company organized a trip to TAIWAN (5 days, 4 nights) ! How fortunate. *Skips skips skips*. Happy to say that everything went smoothly, no changes in flight schedules (tickets were purchased 7 months in advance) which cost about RM700++ per person. Ok right?

There are a few things that tourists must know when in Taiwan.

1. After using the toilet (big or small business or even aunt's visit), do not throw the tissues into toilet bowl. Throw them into dustbin provided inside T___T

2. There are hardly any rubbish bins in sights and best to keep the rubbish until you found one. (The street was so clean that you would not even consider throwing on the floor)

3. The bus exit and entry is on your right, instead of left.

4. When crossing the road, please look LEFT first only follow by RIGHT! (or else you might end up with serious injuries)

Long story short, we arrived in Taiwan around 2 something, proceed to luggage, ding dang ding dang……. and the tour guide came and pick us up. Based on the itinerary, it was supposed to be free and easy night in Taipei. However, plans changed for  the better. The bus brought us to Yi Lan from the airport which took about an hour or so.

IMG_6753

Taiwan’s packaging was so creative.

Here we are in ShangriLa Leisure Farm. Sweet~ but too bad, it was drizzling the entire time.

Releasing “Kongming” lantern

Kongming lantern was invented by Zhuge Liang whose reverent term of address (Chinese style name) was Kongming. They were first deployed at the turn of the 3rd century as a type of signaling balloon or, it is claimed, as a type of spy blimp in warfare. Alternatively the name may come from the lantern's resemblance to the hat Kongming is traditionally shown to be wearing. Source: Wikipedia.
